Psychological Assessments
Assessments
Skip the 18-month public waitlist. Get a comprehensive diagnostic roadmap for your child’s learning and development, led by a multidisciplinary team with over 35 years of clinical expertise.
Assessments are completed by our psychological team, led by a psychologist and trained psychometrists. Each assessment includes an intake session, testing sessions, and a feedback session. Following the completion of testing and any additional questionnaires, the clinician will provide feedback regarding the findings, possible diagnoses (if applicable), and recommendations. A copy of the final report is provided to the client.
All of our assessments are available to children, adolescents, and adults, with certain assessments requiring a minimum age depending on the type of evaluation. Assessments are usually completed in-clinic or virtually, with the format determined during intake based on clinical needs and suitability.
We provide the following assessments:
Psychoeducational Assessment
A detailed evaluation is used to understand how someone learns, processes information, and performs academically. This assessment looks at intellectual functioning, academic skills (reading, writing, math), memory and processing speed, and language and problem-solving abilities. This assessment can determine learning disabilities such as reading/dyslexia, writing/dysgraphia, and math/dyscalculia.
Attention (ADHD) Assessment
Examines attention and concentration, impulsivity, hyperactivity or restlessness, executive functioning, emotion regulation and academic or workplace function to determine if an ADHD diagnosis is appropriate.
Social Communicative Functioning/Autism Assessment:
A social communicative functioning assessment evaluates an individual's ability to communicate socially and interact with others. Specifically, verbal and nonverbal communication and the ability to develop relationships will be explored. As part of the process, any restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests or activities will also be considered. Depending on the results of the assessment, a diagnosis may be given if appropriate. Recommendations are provided based on the client's needs.
Psychovocational Assessment
A psychovocational assessment is an evaluation of an individual's abilities, interests, personality and job skills. The assessment also examines a person's readiness, limitations, and training requirements.
Psychological Assessment
A psychological assessment examines a person's challenges emotionally, socially and in everyday functioning. A variety of test measures are used to better understand what might be contributing to his/her difficulties. Depending on the results of the assessment, a diagnosis may be given if appropriate. Recommendations involving lifestyle and treatment options are provided.
